Hot damn. I cannot say thank you enough for all the wonderful gifts. I'm putting my foot down after the first of the year. These long hours are absolutely for the birds. Mostly because I don't get to see my partner nearly enough.

I'm on my third pot of coffee and I think this is almost done. Y'know, why don't I have underlings to do all of this FOR me? Maybe that's the plan. Work us all to death.

Gifts will be forthcoming. Consider them... first of the year gifts. Who needs to actually get things on Christmas anyway. There was that whole 12 Days of Christmas thing. Which, apparently, if anyone was to actually buy all twelve gifts it would cost an obscene amount of money.

In other words -- none of you are getting a damned partridge in a pear tree... nor will there be ten lords a leaping.

Though I could go for nine ladies dancing...

Whoever said running a department was going to be a 'fun' way to pass the time, apparently never saw the amount of paperwork that passes by one's desk. And I do mean amount. As evidenced by the lack of updates? I don't think I've seen the bottom of an out-box in about two months.

I think I need an assistant who can actually weed through things rather than just... oh... keep passing them onto me.

I feel like all I'm doing lately is complaining, but it's my journal and I can say what I want. Basically? I'm just so damned tired of it all.

Two months it's been since I've been on English soil. This? Fucking ridiculous. I get that I have a better job now complete with title, but damnit to hell, I'm not spending two months in America ever again. At least their Auror program is in better shape than when I arrived.

Didn't get to say it sooner, but the Christmas party went off without a hitch. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves!

It seems that one of my Christmas gifts was a trip abroad. I shall return within a week, decidedly tanner. And given the state of the weather right now? I really won't mind a few days in the tropics. Add in the prospect of being well-shagged on a beach and it's a bloody fantastic Christmas far as I'm concerned.

Before you ask, yes, I'll be sending the warm weather back with me. At least, that's the current plan.

And it's funny -- I picked out a gift, figuring mine would be the be-all, end-all gift this year. Oh how very, very wrong I was.

Not much has been going on. At least, nothing of note. Mostly have just been relaxing and trying to take care of myself. Doesn't seem like there's going to be any permanent damage which is a bloody good thing as far as I'm concerned.

From what the Healers have been saying, they're going to spring me tomorrow. And not a moment too soon either. I think I'm starting to go stir crazy here. One can only stare at the ceiling for so long without going completely and totally batty.

They still don't know what hit me but they're convinced there will be no lingering effects. Can't wait to get home.

Well, at least there's an improvement in things at the very least. I haven't lost my job yet. And the worst part about this whole affair? I found a bloody fantastic flat. I know I shouldn't with things so uncertain but at the same time, the deal is fantastic and it's larger than what I currently have.

Which, I think at this point anything would be larger. And there's a bloody terrace! I've always wanted a terrace.
